Day Forty Three

Big Bummer! We arrived at the Graceland parking lot and were informed by the attendant that the mansion was closed for the day, but we were free to explore the mediation gardens and the gift shop. Needless to say, we did not choose to tour Graceland.
We managed to feel our way around and found the Stax Museum. It was an amazing, eye opening experience! Check out the Stax Museum online at During the tour, I discovered a new favorite artist, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, she was a pioneering gospel singer, songwriter and recording artist who attained great popularity in the 1930s and 1940s with a unique mixture of spiritual lyrics and early rock and roll accompaniment. She became the first great recording star of gospel music in the late 1930s and also became known as the "original soul sister" of recorded music.
